My name is Mrs. Collette and I am the school social worker at Oak Lawn Elementary school.  I am from Coventry where I live with my husband, my two children, my Shih Tsu, Ollie, and my cats, Simba and Caroline.

As part of the team at Oak Lawn, I am here to provide your child with the Social Emotional support that will help them to become better with friendships, coping with big feelings, taming anxiety, and learning important social skills that they will need throughout their lives.  I meet with children individually, in small groups and as a whole classroom as needed. Please reach out to me if you think I may be of help to you and your child.

Here are a few of my favorite resources for children and families who need some extra support.  Friends Way is an agency that provides grief counseling to children and their families, Kids Link RI is a fantastic resource if you are looking for referrals for counseling or other supports, and 988 is the new Suicide and Crisis hotline.  Check them out!!

At the elementary level, academic support services focus on early intervention, one to one specialized instruction, and small group, multisensory instruction that specifically addresses student’s needs while building on their individual strengths. Depending on individual needs, students may be instructed inside or outside of the general education class with research-based intervention programs.  The Special Education Team will provide support within the general education classroom as appropriate to ensure the provision of identified accommodations and to support maintenance of skills taught in small groups.
